Hey there, friends. I have been writing and dreaming up a storm lately, but honestly, I have just not had the time to edit or follow through with posts. Early mornings, late (and sleepless) nights have taken over for a small period of time. I’m in the middle of a crazy work season both during my day job and with a couple of freelance projects, and unfortunately blogging just hasn’t been a priority.

I miss it tremendously, though, and I still want to be able to look back on this month and remember a bit about what was going on with our family and life. That, and well, I also wanted to indulge in sitting down with a good cup of tea and some tunes and just lose myself in the words for a few minutes. 🙂

Here’s Currently, a monthly series I plan to continue. It’ll be fun to look back and reflect on each month of the year!

Hoping everything in your world is bright and wonderful these days.

Reading… The Antelope in the Living Room by the lovely and LOL-inducing Melanie Shankle. It’s a hysterical memoir of her marriage, particularly of the young love and early years (which I appreciate). It usually has me laughing so hard that my abs hurt, but then she just sprinkles in those beautiful, truth-revealing moments here and there too. It’s a good one for the soul, I’m telling ya.
Playing… Fantasy Football which I am suddenly not totally horrible at! Just a little horrible. I’ve been watching football pretty much since I opened my eyes as a baby, but I’ve never played before joining my family’s league this year. I went 0-9 the first nine weeks. HA…Ha…yeah, it was really quite depressing and pathetic. But since then I have won both games two weeks in a row so basically I feel like a Queen. But, don’t you worry, I am still the laughing stock of our family.
Watching… The League On a binge with my husband. We’re almost finished! Can you tell we like football in this family? #tacoforever
Trying… To write more and worry less.
Cooking… turkey sweet potato quinoa chili & prosciutto and fig pizza (this week).
Eating… Our last two frozen cupcakes from the wedding. Kind of sad to see them go! But delicious.
Drinking… Echinacea Immune Support from Yogi. My favorite tea this time of year – it really does work miracles when I feel a cold coming on.
Texting… confessions about how much I hate that I love Justin Bieber’s fancy little new jams to my best friends.
Pinning… The aforementioned chili recipe!
Tweeting… an interview from the inspiring ladies behind 31 Bits.
Going… to Philadelphia this weekend! Well, we hope. Crossing fingers. 🙂
Loving… the generosity of all of my volunteers who have made tonight’s event possible. I want to hug them and bake them cookies. You know what? I just might.
Hating… the negativity on every newsfeed every where I go. Feeling so discouraged by it. The more I read, the more I realize we just have to wait, and pray, and show love to everyone.
Discovering… that I don’t need coffee as much as I thought I did. I’m enjoying this little fast!
Thinking… about our plans and big dreams for 2016.
Feeling… so grateful to wake up next to my husband every day. The feeling has not worn off, y’all. Praying it never does.
Hoping (for)… a successful (and lucrative!) fundraising event tonight.
Listening (to)… You Make Me Brave by Bethel Music. It has been such a comfort to be this week in the midst of all that’s going in the world.
Celebrating… my brother’s birthday week!
Smelling… my favorite Autumn candle – Simmering Apple Cider. 🙂
Ordering… Nothing! Saving for Christmas and doing minimal spending this month has been so. dang. freeing.
Thanking… the Lord for protecting me each day.
Considering… submitting to one of my favorite online magazines next week. Eeeep! Scary stuff.
Starting… to prep posts for next week. Hopefully a regular blogging schedule is coming soon.
Finishing… our United Way campaign. Woop, woop!

Giving Thanks | 2

Happy Monday, internet!

If you’ve seen me today, chances are I was probably casually floating around on Cloud Nine, smiling ear-to-ear for no apparent reason, perhaps even talking to myself or humming a little diddy to the tune of “score a touchdown, one, two, threeeeeee”.

Well, let me shout it from the rooftops: I am not a crazy person and THERE IS AN APPARENT REASON! Last night, the Eagles beat the Cowboys 33-27 in overtime and the joy that overflowed from my heart as a result rivals that of my wedding day (sorry, babe). I’ve already written three drafts of this paragraph trying to explain and convey just what this means to me, to all of us, but I’m not coming up with anything remotely adequate. All I can say, is if you haven’t yet been blessed/cursed with the beautiful and wonderful (mis)fortune of being an Eagles fan…search “4th & 26th” on YouTube and then just click on every relevant post from there on out. In short, I’m a happy little lady today. Free coffee in tow. (Looking at and loving you, Dunkin’.)

These on-Cloud-Nine shenanigans have got me feeling all sorts of grateful and giddy today. I thought it would be a perfect time for round two of Giving Thanks!

Giving Thanks

1. The man who I’ve been friendcrushing on hard for two years now just pulling out an absolute miracle in Arlington.

2. Homecoming! Despite the wind and rain (where are you, summer?), we had such a fun time celebrating homecoming weekend at our alma mater. Highlights: the yummiest breakfast tailgate, spiked cider, family, old friend reunions. After the daytime festivities fizzled out, Scott & Jen hosted a campfire burgers + smores dream dinner. It was the most fun and relaxing day we’ve had since returning from Mexico, and so, so needed. Thanks, friends!

Double Dels! Only 6 years apart. 🙂
Tailgate crew! Thanks to Scott & Jen for making sure our hearts were happy & our bellies full.

3. A chance to ride my longtime friend but first time trail partner, Darby yesterday! Darby is a part of our local mounted patrol unit, but yesterday was his day off and we were able to gallop the rolling hills and enjoy the lingering Fall colors together. Thank you, Mary for the opportunity! It felt so good to be back in the saddle after almost a year out.

4. This song that is just the happiest and danciest and on repeatiest in all the land.

5. An awesome date night with my husband! I planned a “Choose Your Own Adventure” date (these are the things you do when you love someone who was born in the 80s). To my surprise though, it ended with a grapefruit + tequila cocktail that was out-of-this-world delicious.

What are you thankful for this Monday?
