Welcome to Heart-to-Heart Hump Days, Lindsey! I’m so excited to have you on the blog today. Can you tell our readers a little bit about who you are and how Nourish Move Love came to be?

Hi! I’m Lindsey Bomgren, the the fitness-loving, green veggie obsessed, blogger behind Nourish Move Love.

I’m a group fitness and barre instructor, trainer, and healthy recipe creator {and taster}. I’m your basic fit girl turned fit mamma, as I’m expecting in March, with an outlook that life’s more fun with wine {when I’m not pregnant of course} and trail mix. I’m driven by faith, hustle, to-do lists, green smoothies and coffee.

I live in Minneapolis, MN with handsome husband, Tim {who’s a stud beach volleyball player and the reason I get to jet off to California throughout the summer}. I am a Proverbs 31 aspiring wife who’s reading the bible cover to cover for the first time.

I’m still learning to fall in love with myself and body everyday, but I’ve come along way. Which brings me to how Nourish Move Love came to be — I’ve always love health and fitness and been an athlete most of my life. After my college volleyball career ended I needed something to keep me active so I tried marathon running and fitness competitions. I learned a lot throughout these experiences, but I became a bit too obsessed with working out and restricting my nutrition. I wanted to be viewed as a healthy inspiration, but I was very unhealthy.

And that’s how Nourish Move Love was born, I wanted to help women, myself included, create a healthy lifestyle and body that they love; in a realistic and attainable way. The concept is threefold:

Nourish your body with real food and your mind with God’s word.
Move your body and create movement in your life.
Love yourself wholeheartedly.

In essence — pray often. Eat greens. Live actively. Love wholeheartedly.

So here I am with nothing more than a laptop and fancy yoga pants sharing all my tips and tricks on how to stay healthy and fit!

Have you always been active and passionate about fitness? What drives your passion for your business?

I’ve always loved health and fitness and lived an active lifestyle — from high school sports to playing college volleyball; then running marathons and competing in fitness competitions. However, I found my true passion in teaching group fitness and sharing workouts/workout videos on my blog!

Were you pursuing this path right at the start of your career? What was it like to go through the process of obtaining all of your certifications and credentials?

No. Out of college I got into marketing and sales and ended up doing medical device sales for 4+ years. It was a great job and I learned a lot, but I always knew I wanted to do my own thing. And as my passion for health and fitness grew I knew I wanted to start a career in health and fitness, but I didn’t know where to start. So while still doing medical sales I started pursuing my certifications — first I got my Personal Training Certification through NASM, and I started practicing on the side, but personal training wasn’t for me. And then I found group fitness and fell in love! I went through Lifetime Academy’s Group Fitness Instructor program and became an ACE Certified Group Fitness Instructor and the rest is history.

What’s it really like to work for yourself in an atypical environment? Is it what you expected it to be? What are the perks and challenges?

It’s way harder than I ever imagined. I’ve worked harder in the past year and a half (almost two years) than I ever have in my entire life, but I feel extremely blessed to love my work. As a new entrepreneur I need to have multiple income streams so my life is a big balancing act — teaching group fitness classes, fitness modeling, blogging, freelance marketing with fitness companies…you name it I’ve taken on a bunch of odd jobs since being on my own to make ends meet.

Of course there are lots of perks to being an entrepreneur — I can work from wherever I want (home, coffee shops), I can work whenever I want, and ultimately I get to create my schedule and to-do list every day, week and month. However, actually taking advantage of these perks is the hard part. I get up earlier and work longer days than I would have ever imagined, it’s rare I ever take a full weekend off, and I’m pretty much always ‘on’ in some way thinking about the business.

Ultimately, it’s a roller coaster. Some days I feel on top of the world and others I wonder why I ever quit my sales job. But I am very fortunate to have an amazing support system (husband, family and friends) who all believe in me and help keep me going.

Though it’s full of wonderful, beautiful things – it sounds like you’ve got so much on your plate! What are your tips and tricks for staying balanced and connected to Christ when life gets crazy?

This is a daily struggle for me, and something I personally continue to work at. But every night before bed I set my bible on the table so it’s the first thing I see in the morning. I try to spend at least 15-20 minutes reading/praying every morning. This really helps me prioritize my to-do list and not get so wrapped up in the busyness of life.

I also try and pick one verse a week to meditate on and memorize. I write it down, post it around the house, and make it my screen saver so it’s a daily reminder to check in with God.

Also, my husband and I have become more involved in our church community which is great accountability. I love our bi-weekly LifeGroup meetings and being pushed outside my comfort zone to dig deeper into all that God has to offer.

You share many delicious recipes on your blog – what are your personal favorites?

Currently I’m obsessed with all things eggs and avocado (I’ve been this way my entire pregnancy) so I have to say these 5 easy and healthy avocado breakfast recipes! And I’m a snack-aholic who always has these no-bake chocolate tahini bites on hand!

What is your advice for women who know that they want to make 2017 their healthiest, strongest year yet…but might feel a little overwhelmed and aren’t sure where to begin?

Just start! And start small, using the resources you have. It’s so easy to look at the big end goal and get discouraged our compare your beginning with someone’s middle. But you just have to start, doing one thing a day that will get you one step closer to your goal. Write it down. Share it with those closest to you. And be your own biggest cheerleader!

Just for fun, what are three things that you’re loving right now?

Oranges — I’ve been absolutely obsessed with them lately and probably eat 3-4 (if not more) a day!

Present Over Perfect by Shauna Niequist — I just finished this book and think every workaholic should read it! (SGMG: One of my favorites, too – reading it for the second time! So good.)

Lululemon Align II Pants — they are like butter on your body and every woman should own a pair, I pretty much live in them!
