After a tough week 6, marathon training is back in action!
Largely in part due to the wonderful people at Milestone Running, who helped me find the best new shoes for my awkward feet and informed me that I'm a half size bigger than what I was running in. Uh oh. That could explain the blisters.
I'm now running in the Hoka Bondi 5. Have you tried them? Amazing! I swear by Hoka's unique cushioning and these may be my favorite yet. Thanks, Milestone friends!
Other exciting things from this week:
I tried Squared Organic protein bars for the first time and love them! I wish they had more protein, but they are good for a quick snack.
Chad and I attended a free throw tournament for the Huntington's Disease Society of America, San Diego branch. It was a lot of fun for a great cause, and I even got to snap a pic with my workout buddy Bill Walton. (We go to the same gym. He's the nicest, most normal guy!)
We also enjoyed a mini-getaway to Orange County (Laguna + Newport Beach), thanks to a great Christmas gift from my mom. We had a late lunch and spent the afternoon wandering the beachside cliffs and collecting rocks.
And I made the best vegan mousse ever thanks to a recipe from the Lazy Vegan Baker! Threw some strawberry slices on top and it was perfection.
As for training…
Monday: elliptical + weights (was still nursing the sore feet at this point)
Tuesday: felt okay to run-ish again: 2 miles of speedwork, free weights, ab circuit
Wednesday: 4 miles, 3 Yasso 800s (4:00 pace), 1 evening mile with my dog, push-up and ab circuit
Thursday: 3 miles @ 8:49 pace
Friday: rest, stretch, walk
Saturday: 6 miles easy pace
Sunday: 10 miles @ 9:36 pace (8 easy miles of hills and 2 miles of intervals)
Total: 26 miles…almost a marathon! 😉
I'm looking forward to longer runs this week and to being back with my track club for hill work. How is your training going? Any races coming up?
